A Recipe for Butterbeer
Published August 9, 2010
Harry Potter-ites eat your heart out. I made butterbeer this weekend.
I used this recipe (clickety-click here, it’s the second one on the page) except I added Butterscotch Schnapps to it (about 1 Tab. per bottle). Supposedly it tastes the most accurate to that found in our beloved Wizarding World. And…yeah, it was pretty fabulous. So now I’m already planning to make a more complicated cooked version to serve up warm… I’ll keep you posted
.
But tell me, my friendlies, which is your favorite Harry Potter book?

Soooo good. I definitely feel a Harry Potter Party coming on – anyone? I think that I really enjoyed Book 4 & 5 -well, actually – I loved book 6 too… I guess I’ll go with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for now. I’ll change my mind tomorrow.

Great clip–makes me want to view all the movies in order, as I’ve only caught them via whatever DVD the boys had laying around. As far as the books–haven’t had time. Maybe next year on vacation I can read the whole series. However, I will say that I loved walking by the little coffee shop in Edinburgh where the great Ms. J. K. Rowling began writing her little story that grew. It gave me hope as an author.

YUMMMM! Thanks for the post… I have to make it one of these nights for Anthony to sip while I’m reading “HP and the Sorcerer’s Stone” to the kids. In that same vein, is anyone else a bit offended that the American version of the first novel is titled “The Sorcerer’s Stone” whereas the original, British title is “The Philosopher’s Stone”, keeping with the traditional story, because it was thought that American kids wouldn’t be familiar with the old legend?! So irritating. Yes, American kids are dumb, let’s NOT stretch their little brains. Or perhaps they knew that by putting “Sorcerer” in the title, it would be instantly controversial for the American church? Hmmm. I smell conspiracy…
I think I need another butterbeer, please!

Lisa, I agree
. But I’m thinking of bringing luscious molten lava cakes with raspberry red wine dark chocolate sauce instead. Yeah…
Lori, that’s an absolute YES on the Harry Potter party. Let’s do it at Kati’s house for the movie!!! Dani, you need to be Hermoine and come out for the party, okay? Okay. And to the conspiracy…smart thinking…I smell Dan Brown’s marketing company…
Mom, borrow them from Kati. Then you can attend the movie with us
