Harry Potter Rabid Fan Pics
Published July 20, 2011
Well, rabid fan peeps, did you see Harry Potter??? Annnnd? Did you love it?
Peter and I did our rabid fan thing opening night (which mainly looks like me being the rabid fan and Pete being my arm-candy) with the most awesome groupies ever! Some of them had been there since the wee hours of the morning and STILL had energy! Like these ladies. Check out the pillow.
I caught this group walking by us in full character, looking way too fabulous. Love the lady in the back!

And lucky us—right after we got in line, THIS cool fan dropped by to hang out with us for the long wait. Hey, Jay Asher! (Sadly, I’m not in costume…blame the long work day. I do have my cool purple hair streaks though. They’re very “Tonks” looking, don’t ya think?)
For much of the evening we held the honored place of Very Last in Line. Until THIS guy came and stole it. We dubbed him “random end of the line guy.” He embraced the title, so, of course, we had to get a pic with him.
Once inside, the theater hosted a costume contest. These two almost won. Aren’t they adorable? I dig her hair.
And apparently Batman is a huge Potter fan. Who knew?
Finally, the show began. My sister, her hubs, and Pete and I sat in the front row with our cool Harry Potter 3D glasses.
My sister cried. I ate gobs of buttered popcorn.
:0)

LOVE! No spoilers, please, because my dear husband recanted his original promise to take me to the matinee the next morning, and now is saying that he’d rather not see it at all. Which is probably for the best, because he never understands the movies, no matter how often we see them. So now I wait for sweet pay-day Friday when I can go on a Me-Date to the movies!
WISH I had been there… the costumes, the hang out, hanging out with popular YA authors… looks like an epic night! =)

There’s nothing like a night on the town with your trophy husband. . . We should drag them along more often

LOVED the movie. Sad I couldn’t make it to the midnight showing, though (boo, work!)
Also, love your purples streaks… I wanted to do pink for a while… one of these days I’ll work up the courage to actually do it!

Definately was the best Harry Potter movie. I did cry a lot too.

Mary!!! You and Kati didn’t dress up?! SHAME!!!! hahaha. Our friend Bekah decorated a t-shirt with one of the horcruxes for all of us and on the back it had a letter on it so the back of the shirts spelled HORCRUX.
Did you love the movie? Was it everything you expected and hoped for?
How was it in 3D? Worth it?

jealous. anyone wanna go with me to a matinee?
(will says he thought Peter was in costume – didn’t he have his sparkle lotion on?)

Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! I need to go see it!! I have that I-can’t-think-about-it-or-else-I-will-go-insane-from-anticipation-feeling.

That looks like so much fun… I still haven’t seen Harry Potter… soon when the cinemas are not so choka full:)

I loved the movie. For me it wa the most visually stunning one. I didn’t like the way they changed the ending though. It would have had much more punch if they had stuck to the book version, which shouldn’t have been hard to do.

Oh, Dani, that makes me sad for you! I’ll totally go see it with you on your next visit. And EPIC is a great word.
Kati, I wonder if our trophy husbands would see Breaking Dawn on opening night with us. Hmm… *raises evil eyebrow*
Julie, you should totally do it (pink streaks)! I’ve had red and pink in the past–the purple and black have just been the last 6 months or so. I love them! I think it’s my secret way of holding onto to the punk rock days without my kids rolling their eyes and gagging that their mother is a total dork (I hope).
Robert, wasn’t it though???
Bethany! You guys are awesome! Of course you’d all go as horcruxes! And, yes, I loved the movie. This series is by far the best book-to-movie adaptations I’ve ever seen. The 3D, on the other hand, kind of just annoyed me, which might’ve been because I was in the front row or (more likely) because the only 3D movie I’ve ever liked was that old Michael Jackson one at Disneyland.
Lori, Peter’s saving the sparkle lotion for Breaking Dawn. I’m sure of it. Just don’t tell him I said so.
Mariel, do it, lady!
Tania, I know what you mean about the crowds. We tend to do the drive-in for most movies just for the space and leg-room!
Jade, “visually stunning” are the perfect words. Especially the ash scene. That was the one part where I appreciated the 3D glasses!

Wait, they changed the end?
oh no.
I still have 3 harry potter movies to watch before I can go see this one.

Ok, so apparently I need to get on this Harry Potter bandwagon. Clearly I do not have enough things to be rabid about. I only have chocolate and Twilight and cupcakes and…..yeah I could use another. Teach me Harry Potter gurus. Teach me.
07.26.2011 / 10:06 am
Haha! Oh, poor Mariel! Nothing like a little teaser to make you hold your breath until you get there! *smirk*
Kristin…the answer is YES. We will teach you the Harry Potter Rabidity Way. Step 1: Read (have you read the books?). Step 2: Take breaks in between each book–just long enough to work up an adequate amount of foam in your mouth (toothpaste works well). Step 3: Buy a wand (or use a stick that your child finds at the park) and practice shaking it and saying “ridiculous” every time someone insults/questions the awesomeness of the Potter world. And Step 4: Drink butterbeer. Lots of it.

Kristin, also important: research which animal most resembles your personality, then go buy it (not a real one, a stuffed, white one). Then, when you are terrified, throw your white stuffed personality animal at whatever is frightening you while screaming “EXPECTO PATRONUM!”
Expect awesome results.
(I kid you not, a guy I went to Poly with did this [because us English nerds are SO cool]. I die laughing every time I remember it.)

I’m in. I have not yet read the books. I have tried to get a hold of them at the library a couple times with no luck. Will have to work a little harder at it. Because rabid fanism is totally up my alley. And I am all about pointing and throwing and yelling random stuff. This is gonna be fun.
07.27.2011 / 9:17 pm
Dani, I died laughing hearing you tell about it. Or reading you tell about it, or something.
07.27.2011 / 11:02 pm
@ Dani…..LMAO at you. I must try that one day.
07.28.2011 / 5:57 am
That is brilliantly freaking hilarious, Dani! What I would give to have seen you perform such a feat while standing in the movie line. Oh man. I’m never attending another movie without you.
08.7.2011 / 12:00 pm
Loved it!! But I’m pretty sure I was the only 7-month pregnant woman at the midnight showing where we went and the only one wearing a Harry Potter T-shirt stretched over my belly.
08.8.2011 / 9:01 am
Brandy, you’re a true die-hard!!!
