How was Harry Potter?

Published November 26, 2010

Soooo…did you see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows yet?

And??? Did you love it?

The people around me adored it so much they were clapping and cheering and hollering things at the screen, and the girl sitting behind us even started sobbing (can you guess at which part?). Annnnnd, of course, there were the costumes. Yes, waiting in line three hours for the midnight showing gave us a chance to view everyone as they walked by (as well as eat gobs of onion rings, which I assure you are God’s gift to mankind). We visited with some, and took photos of others. I’ve accumulated my favorites for you below. And, oh yeah, we ran into some famous guy named Jay Asher. He was cool enough to chat with us for a bit. And we were cool enough to share with him a few labor and birth stories (since his baby is due any day now) along with some helpful tips. I’m sure he’ll thank us later. ;-P

These lovely ladies were first in line…at 8:10 in the morning. Notice their lightning tattoos!

The Whomping Willow. Once inside, he led the entire audience in a song and cheer!

I have to slip my beautiful (and oh-so-fun) friends in here. All bundled up with Dani (all the way from Arizona!), Lori, and Kati. Yeah, they’re pretty much fabulous.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…the Fremont really IS the best place to see movies. ;-)

Alright…spill it. How was YOUR Harry Potter experience, and what did you think of the movie?!

What Others Have To Say

Best girls’ night out of 2010!!! The onion rings were salty and amazing, Jay Asher was as cool as expected, and the crowd was fantastic! Thanks Will, for grabbing our awesome tickets early! And Mary, Kati & Lori: we’ve made an awesome memory! I guess I’ll have to plan to fly out for Part II…. =D

Oh yes, and I thought the movie was fantastic. They keep getting better and better, and I’m glad they are sticking much closer to the novels than they were in the beginning of the series!

Loved it! And I had a fabulous time that night too! :) Dani you need to definitely come out for Part 2~ it wouldn’t be the same without you… I really want to go see it again, I’m sure I missed so much (especially when I was feeling bad for the girl sobbing behind us). I’m tempted to go to the drive in this week to see it – but I’m afraid my kids won’t fall asleep for the second movie (hp) – anyone want to babysit? : )

Believe it or not, I haven’t read any of the books, or seen any of the movies. I’ve always been more of a Narnia girl myself. But I’m thinking that I really need to. I’m glad to hear the movies are good, and faithful to the books! Usually movies fail in that department. And, I babysit! (If school leaves me time!)

I really enjoyed the movie, quite amazing to say the least. However, the real magic is felt in the books themselves, but the movie did not cease to impress.

James, I felt the exact same way. :-)

Mariel, read them! You’ll love the books. And I agree, it’s pretty much a miracle when the movies can remain faithful.

Lori and Dani, let’s do it. ;-)

I have not seen it. Dan tried to show me one of the movies once and I fell asleep. I may have finally given in and the next time I make it to the library, I will rent Harry Potter. You can hold me to it. Maybe. Unless there is some juicy teen novel that gets me first.

Kristin, now I need to know… What was the latest juicy teen novel you read??? ;-)

It was called Sloppy Firsts. Not earth shattering, but like reading my old embarassing journal from high school

Loved it, but did feel there were some disappointing moments. Standing in line for hours with other fans is something of a tradition for me at this point. Read about my experience here:

I liked reading about your experience, Brandy! And, uh, yeah…what was up with the missing clothing scene? Kinda awkward. And the cloak! Oh, how I missed it…
