The Old Spice Guy Supports Libraries

Published July 19, 2010

Dear Old Spice Guy,

Thank you for your efforts in raising support for our local, public libraries.

I think.

Sincerely,

A laughing, and slightly disturbed, citizen.

What Others Have To Say

Go jump on a giraff? lol – what the heck was this??? Since my youngest is frowning at me and saying, “mommy, you comin now”, while practically choking me by pulling out the string on my hoodie, I have to go. But I will just say on the subject of giraffs, (which are my other favorite with owls), my sons and I fed one yesterday and it was delightful. : )

Awwww…yay for good zoo days :-) . I bet they were in heaven! And my favorite line from this was “stop throwing pidgeons.” Like…what?!

I say…why would anyone shoot a video about libraries in a bathroom?

And…my son has a better body than the Old Spice Man…so there!

“And books are often composed of many, many words…” I’m still snickering over this.

Jeanette, perhaps he was making the general male population feel more comfortable, since–as to my knowledge–the majority of men read their books in the bathroom. Maybe this environment is something they can all relate to. (Just please do not ask me how I know this.) Also, have you seen any of the other Old Spice commercials? This is how they all are. And brag away, Jeanette (proud mama), brag away ;-) .

I love the Old Spice commercials and the old spice guy…he has a certain way about him that makes me wonder if all men don’t secretly think of themselves in the same way. Honestly, he just says what most guys think. They start young saying it out loud and then shut up when they begin to like girls and become slightly more shy about what they say out loud–not wanting to lose the girl. Once married, they become vocal again. Listen to Korbin and Peter and tell me I’m wrong.

I agree with you, but with one exception. Even as “shy-mouthed” teens, guys are this way. Arguably, even more so. They just don’t say it around THE GIRL they like. However, they seem to feel quite free professing their studliness, nay–even attempting to DISPLAY their studliness (“look at my muscles”) in the confines of their own home to the audience of their snickering mother and sister while the other brothers roll eyes or tackle the bragging individual. And I know this because… ;-)

And THIS is the BEST spoof of the above commercial EVER. I just came across it–check it out:

“Did you know that 8 out of 5 dentists say that studying in a library is 6 bagillion times more effective than studying in your shower?” Ahahahahaha…love it.
