We Saw Eclipse

Published June 30, 2010

So Kati (from last week’s post), Lori (in a soon-to-come post), and I attended the movie release of Eclipse in the wee wretched hours of this morning. And we threes liked it…we really did. For the most part.

Ms. Stewart still refuses to portray personality (sad…truly), but the fight scenes were pretty fantastic. Especially between Jasper and Alice, and Edward and Victoria. In the words of Kati, “Edward actually looked like a bad a$$ instead of a weenie. And his makeup was SO much better.” Yay, Edward.

We were also rather impressed with Jasper. Who knew he could act rather than just look constipated? (Or am I the only person who’s ever thought that?) He was quite studly. I wholly approved.

I liked Rosalie this time around too. Although, Lori did take issue with Rosalie’s eyebrows. Multiple times. I believe her exact words were, “PLEASE bleach them.”

Oh, and these rabid fan girls were just…so awesome. Seriously. And sweet. Vampires be proud, these girls made our evening THAT much better.

Also, thank you to the man in the audience who, after about the 150th bout of girls shrieking at anyone and EVERYONE who’s muscles (ahem, Jacob) or face (Edward/Jasper/Carlisle) graced the screen, finally yelled “shut-uuuuuuuup!” at the top of his lungs. That was highly appropriate of you. Especially since I was having a hard time hearing the make-out scene.

All in all? A fabulous time was had by vamp and rabid fan girls alike. (And old people like me who aren’t used to staying up until 3:30 in the morning.)

So, tell me…did you see Eclipse? WILL you see Eclipse? Reactions to it? Are we right or are we right?

And, yes, my Twi-sensitivities should be highly offended by this. But I can’t stop laughing.

What Others Have To Say

I freakin loved it. To the 100th power. I laughed, I cried…. mostly laughed, but STILL. There were a lot of corny lines that may have been total cheese ball to anyone who’s heart didn’t belong to the original story… but for me, gave me goosebumps. I think that the actors have finally gotten a hold of their characters (Kristin Stewart is SO close… I loved her personality SO much more in this one… it’s still not 110%, but I would give her at least a 90%). Loved how they went back and told Jasper and Rosalie’s stories….. however, I’m definitely with Lori on the eyebrows. It’s all I could think about. Anyways, I could probably rant and rave for pages and pages… but I’m really wanting to watch this video. It’s my fault for starting to type before clicking play. But I will leave on this note (because I can’t get his voice out of my head) – “Let’s face it, I AM hotter than you” (BAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!! oh jacob, I love you.)

P.S. we all know that Breaking Dawn is being split into 2 films, yes??? I’m incredibly happy about it. That’s all. I’ll shut up now.

Hahahahahahaha…so I’m not the only twisted Twi-person! Yay for parodies, Sarah! And that line of Jacob’s was my absolute favorite of the movie! Bestest ever. (I believe that whole tent scene was one of Lori’s favorites.) And Lori and Kati and I were all saying how much we loved the telling of Rosalie and Jasper’s stories. Totally added to their characters. Good call on that. I love that you loved it!!!!!!!

And, Kati, I totally outed you :-) . Next time I’ll have to come up with some secret nicknames to call you and Lori. Like itaK and iroL. Then no one will guess who I spend the MAJORITY of my time with. ;-)

And freaking YAY for Harry Potter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did NOT know this about Breaking Dawn, Sarah. But I was wondering out loud about it just today! You rock. Thanks for the news. Also, you never have to shut up in my world. ;-)

Well I’m super stoked to get to be the one to tell you :)
It’s IMDB official… and I’ll believe anything that site tells me.

Mary, I need an alias like “ikea” or OR OR “rapier”! Something awesome, obviously.

I have always said that about Jasper (the constipation thing), in fact I said it exactly to my friend last night as we watched Twilight and he came on the scene for the first time. I was also glad to hear and see him come alive. It was great to see Edward fight like he meant it this time.
I loved it. I thought it was the best one yet. Thankfully we did not have a lot of screamers in our place. Once or twice maybe.
I’ve never liked Kristen’s acting. In New Moon she blew the whole heart break scene when Edward left and made me feel like I was watching someone have a seizure instead (and I say that with sensitivity and not to make fun of anyone as my own brother has cerebral palsy so I would not do that…i say it more matter of factly). I do think she is getting better but her emotional out flow is always wanting. Thankfully the rest of the story involves so many in deapth characters that we don’t have to be distracted by her all the time.
I had heard about Breaking Dawn being in two parts and at first I was sad to hear that but if you look at the book, it actually is like two books in one. I just wonder what they heck they are going to call each part.

Kati: I shall call you “Ariel” :-P .

    Mary

Alicia, agreed. And no screamers??? How is that possible? Even some of the men were screaming at our theater… Heheheh…

Also, everyone, Alicia has a cute post on Edward and “Wicked” men at her place (which I intend to comment on shortly): http://whatsupwithusnow.blogspot.com/2010/06/eclipse-and-wicked-men-anne-shirley-had.html

Is the movie as good as the parody? So far I’ve held off seeing any of the films as the books were gag-me-with-a-spoon enough. But if the films are as funny as the parody, I’ll give them a shot.

OOOOK! Soo– oh how I loved it! I have alreay watched it twice infact (I had to take jon to see if he agreed that it was better, or that was my excuse at least). It was so much better, the actors seem like they actually tried this time, i loved rosalies eye brows– but I love blonde hair with dark eye brows, hello: marilyn moroe!– favorite part was when Edward was super pissed off after hearing that Jacob kissed Bella. I’m sorry but I love protective male syndrome, very sexy. Hahaha, I have never used that word.

Anyways– it was so neat to see how the events were sequenced, I was actually in suspense! The dialogue was..better. And it was just so fun!

  15. 07.1.2010 / 10:09 pm

    Lori

So – I do have to say Sarah that that was my favorite line too. That and Charlie’s line after Bella yelled that she was a virgin. (Well, my view of Edward just went up a little.) Hehehe – I definitely laughed at that one.

And I get the Marilyn Monroe blonde hair, dark eyebrows thing, but do you really think vampires die their hair? It just doesn’t seem believable to me… hahaha – that’s kind of an ironic sentence. It is really the only thing I could think about when she was on screen!

Anyway, it was the best movie yet, but I find Kirsten seriously lacking, she doesn’t show any personalty in real life either, I don’t think she knows how to pretend to have one at all.

All in all, super fun night, and I am looking forward to Breaking Dawn. I’m a little leery of going to the midnight showing though. If all the girls were screaming so much at this one, I don’t know if we’ll hear any dialogue during the next one.

    And that video is hilarious.

I really enjoyed reading the books! Alas…..not as impressed with the films. Especially New Moon and how hologramic images of Edward were popping up everywhere. That killed me. Ha ha – I believe I may have just made up a word. :-) I will rent it from the Redbox though! First in line!

    Sara

I have not seen it but I plan on going this week. I really enjoyed the books (hello, escapism!) but can’t quite get to the same level of enthusiasm with the movies. Sooooooo cheesy and painful at times. But I will go. And I hope its better than the last two!
So much more psyched re harry potter!!!!

    Mary

Sorry peeps, I wasn’t ignoring you–I’ve been out of town. And by the time I got home I was in heavy recuperation mode (which pretty much meant playing with my kids and posting their cute sayings on facebook :-) ). But here I am…no more trips for a while!

Sara, I’m totally psyched on Potter! Cannot wait. Enuf said.

Margo…I SO want to know what you think of the Eclipse movie. Oh to be a fly on your wall. You might try a beer before watching. ;-)

Lori, yes. As you and I agreed–what kind of screaming response will their honeymoon provoke? Will our ears survive the onslaught of shrieks? Perhaps we should hit it at the drive-in with the boys. Hmm? I love hanging out with you by the way.

Bethany, I love that you loved it ;-) . And I love that even though you’ve read the book, you were still in suspense. Heheheh…you rock.

Mom, I actually think you’d enjoy it. It can’t be any worse for you than Walker Texas Ranger ;-) .

OH my. After last year’s opening night, I decided to go on Friday :) Can I just say: WHAT IS UP WITH EVERYONE’S HAIR?? This was the least offensive movie of the 3 in the hair department, but still. The only one (pretty much) who doesn’t have horrid hair is Esme and I think it’s because it’s Elizabeth Reaser’s ACTUAL hair. Other than that…gooooooood stuff! PS, and thank you for that parody…shared it at the office :D

I just went to see it today! Kristen Stewart displays the emotional depth of a wet sock. Ha ha – but I still enjoyed :-)

I will admit, I think Charlie’s hot. I just aged myself. Big time.

Bethany, I too was thrilled / uttering sighs of relief this time around to see that Rosalie had DECENT hair. I must have commented on the betterness of it at least 3 times during the movie. Yay for progress! Although I’ve heard a few people complain about Jacob’s…hmm…I don’t get that. He looks just fine to me! And for the record, you have to admit that Charlie’s hair has been pretty great through all three movies :-) .

Margo, wet socks are capable of growing mold so I’m not sure that’s a fair comparison. And, yes, Charlie IS hot. Weird…when did we arrive at this stage in life? Heheheh…I adore you.
